In memory donations

Over the years many have remembered Brentwood Catholic Children's Society in their will and we are deeply grateful for all contributions which support the Society's continuing work in helping children across Essex and East London.

If you die without making a will, the law decides how your estate will be distributed. Those you wished to benefit may receive nothing at all. Making a will gives you the peace of mind that your assets will be distributed as you would wish.

Making a will is simple, but to make it easier we recommend that you contact a solicitor. We can help you find a solicitor in your area and many of them will give a discount on their normal fees.

Gifts to a Charity are exempt from Inheritance Tax.

Below are samples of wording that may help when deciding on the type of legacy you might make:

For a pecuniary legacy (leaving a specific sum)
I give to Brentwood Catholic Children's Society of BCCS House, Little Wheatley Chase, Rayleigh, Essex SS6 9EH, Registered charity number 1000661, the sum of £xxx free of duty, such sum to be applied to the general purposes of the Charity, and I direct that a receipt of the Director or other authorised officer for the time being of the Charity, shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my executors.

For a residuary legacy (leaves the balance of your estate after your other legacies have been honoured)
I give and bequeath all the residue of my estate OR one (fraction) share of the residue of my estate absolutely to Brentwood Catholic Children's Society of BCCS House, Little Wheatley Chase, Rayleigh, Essex SS6 9EH, Registered charity number 1000661, such sum to be applied to the general purposes of the Charity and I direct that a receipt of the Director or other authorised officer for the time being of the Charity, shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my executors.

Your loved ones can give to BCCS instead of buying flowers. They can also make gifts to remember you on important days such as your birthday. Simply mention in your Will that you would like an in memoriam fund set up in your name.

Whatever your reasons for giving, we understand that a gift in a Will can be a big commitment.

We strongly recommend taking legal advice when writing a Will. Your solicitor will be able to take all your circumstances into account to create a Will that ensures that your wishes are carried out. Remember, any gift you make to a charity is exempt from inheritance tax.

Donations in lieu of floral tributes to Brentwood Catholic Children's Society

When you loved one dies, you may choose to ask for donations for the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society in lieu of floral tributes.

We can provide you, or your appointed solicitor, with specially printed envelopes in which people can make donations 'In Memory' of your loved one. In addition we are also able to provide a plaque which can be used at local crematoria, acknowledging donations in lieu of floral tributes

Thank you for considering BCCS-Brentwood Catholic Children's Society for your legacy gift. If you wish to discuss any aspect of leaving a legacy to our Charity, contact in strictest confidence: Steven Webb - Director or Stuart McNab - Trusts Manager on 01268 784544.
